About: It is very important to us that we live our lives focused on God in what we say and do (that includes how we dress). Promoting modesty is not common in this day-in-age. We encourage girls and women to be beautiful without showing off their body. In the same way we encourage them to work on living pure lives. We also encourage boys and men to be careful in their own lives so they can work towards purity from lust, sexual addiction, and waiting for marriage for sex. Together men and women both can strive to live for God first, and to not worry about all the distractions that take their focus off of God. If you’ve messed up in the past, purity is possible to re-attain.
What’s with the name?
An Okapi is a very unique animal. It’s skin is used as a way to protect them from harm and is a way to camouflage them from predators attacking (just like how we want to protect girls/women from being harmed through lustful eyes). In Proverbs 31:10 it talks about a wife being worth more than rubies and having noble character. Also in Proverbs 3:15 and Proverbs 8:11 it says how the wife is precious and nothing is in comparison as his desire for her. Therefore we thought that as women who are hoping to search for purity and be modest, we should keep our eyes fixed on such qualities of being precious and a positive desire. . so that’s how “Ruby-Eyed Okapi” came to be!
What does The Bible say?
“They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. You, however, did not come to know Christ that way.” Ephesians 4:18-20
“As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.” -1 Peter 4:2-4
“that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you.” -1 Thessalonians 4:4-6
“When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.” -Colossians 3:4-6
